Restaurant in Rome: The Perfect Bun

If you are wondering if The Perfect Bun is a restaurant in Rome or a bakery, I can’t blame you.  There is the Perfect Bun Bakery and then there is the Perfect Bun restaurant.

They are under the same ownership and are just a few minutes walk from one another. While I have had tasted their baked goods, I finally got the chance to eat at the restaurant.

Restaurant in Rome: The Perfect Bun

A couple of weeks ago, after a morning of Christmas shopping, I actually wanted to have savoury crepes at Chocolat as a Italian friend gave good feedback after holding a brunch party there early last month.  When I got there, there was still a line and as it was past 2pm, my stomach was already complaining.

I thought this was a good time to try the Perfect Bun.  I have heard that the food here is decent but their service is slow.  Considering that it’s was way past lunch, the crowds must have died down. I was right.  When I stepped in, there was only one other table occupied.  I am not sure if this is a good sign or not but I was happy with the thought that my food will be served quickly.

I knew I wanted a burger and was happy that it didn’t take them long to prepare it.  Burgers are served with fries and they were generous with the portions.  Taste-wise, it was decent but the only disappointment is that the bun was a bit dry.  I requested for some mayo to spread it on the bun as they didn’t have mayo on the table.  They readily brought me a large portion at no extra cost.

I have never peeked in during lunch time and don’t know how crowded it gets.  Overall their service was acceptable in the sense that service was efficient – just don’t expect a waiter with a smile. On a positive note, they do speak English.

I would be back and when I first glanced at the menu, what caught my eye was they had ribs.  I would come back just to try how their ribs as I occasionally crave for ribs, onion rings, wings and nachos!

What I also discovered is that The Perfect Bun also delivers depending on the area.  This is a huge plus because delivery options here in Rome are often limited to pizza.

The Perfect Bun is a good option when you crave for something other than Italian food. It’s not often when that happens but when it does, it’s nice to know you have a restaurant in Rome that caters to this.

  1. Spare ribs? I am SO going there next time.

    • Hi Nathalie, if you try the ribs before I do, let me know how they are 🙂 Thanks for leaving a comment! Appreciate it.

      • Hello, Diana,

Tried them last week at lunch time (normally they are only made in the evening but they graciously accepted to make some for me all the same) and found them very nice and the serving was huge.

The fries were good as well, not greasy at all.

I was quite pleased with the service but I was not working – maybe for the people who work nearby it is a little slow.

They have updated their menu and now each day (lunch time, I believe) has a themed set menu. On Friday you have hummus with pita and a vegetarian couscous. From what I saw in the plates around me those portions were big too.

        • Hi Nathalie,

Thanks for sharing that they only make them during dinner but were nonetheless accommodating! The picture looks so good even if I am sick at the moment 🙂 It sure looks like a huge serving – I am going there to try the ribs once I am well!! Good to know they have a daily lunch set menu – hopefully with this, their service will be faster at lunch time. Really appreciate you letting me know about your experience 🙂
