Senigallia-Places to Eat: Aniko

Senigallia-AnikoWhen I visit Senigallia, I always try to grab a bite at Aniko.  It is a not quite a restaurant but rather an open-air place that is owned by Moreno Cedroni, a Michelin two-star chef.

Not only do I enjoy the outdoor setting but this place offers very unique cuisine.  It’s specialty is smoked fish and the sauces (mustard and berries) is the perfect combination with the fish.

Aniko – Senigallia

The prices have increased since they first opened and we usually come here for aperitifs.  Here’s what you can order from Aniko.

While we come here mainly for their smoked fish, they also have hot dishes such as lasagne.  I have never tried them so I can’t say how good they are.

On this visit to Aniko, we ordered the Bresaola di Pesce Spada (Swordfish) with the berries – ginger sauce and the Cernia affumicata (Smoked Grouper) with the mustard sauce.  Both were delicious combinations.  So good that I am tempted to reconstruct the mustard sauce (that’s for another post!)

Let’s get to the pictures of the food.  But before that, instead of wine, I got a refreshing lime and ginger drink.  Loved it and another thing I will reconstruct.

Here’s the food – bresaola di pesce spada.

And the cernia affumicato.

In addition to that, we ordered my nieces favorite dish – octopus .

The portions, in general, are not very big and so it’s perfect for aperitifs.  Price wise, Aniko is quite costly but the food is unique and the outdoor setting fits in perfectly with the culture of Senigallia in summer. Definitely worth the visit!

If you can’t make it over to Senigallia, there are some products by Moreno Cedroni, such as the mustard sauce, which you can purchase online.

  1. Wow they have a 2 star Michelin chef in Senigallia. I must go there on my next trip. All this time thought Senigallia was a small town (kampong). Menu looks yummy and the open air restaurant concept looks neat.

    • Yeah and you can tell that my niece has good taste because she loves this place. It will be your treat after a day of babysitting.
